In 2022, Lightbox in collaboration with illustrator Mat Bartlett were commissioned to produce a mechanical flipbook for Flatpack Film Festival, Birmingham. We were inspired by early flipbooks made in Birmingham featuring the skeleton motif. We premiered the flipbook during a cinema heritage walk around Birmingham as part of the festival. We accompanied the commission with flipbook workshops for families at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
