One of our dream projects has come true! With The Lost Picture Show and masterful designer Rich Zlotnicki we have built a giant zoetrope for workshops.
The zoetrope is pre-animation device that was invented in the 1860s that produces the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion. It literally means the ‘wheel of life’.
It is a really fun way of introducing kids to simple animation techniques and early cinema. We often bring the Giant Zoetrope to festivals to accompany our mini zoetrope workshops.
We have travelled the Giant Zoetrope to Granary Square, London, Shambala Festival, Flatpack Film Festival, Birmingham, East End Film Festival and Bromley Family Film Festival, London.
